SWAN Days Allegany County NY
SWAN Day is an annual event facilitated by WomenArts (www.womenarts.org) taking place on the last Saturday of Women’s History Month (March) and the surrounding weeks. The idea for SWAN Day grew out of a collaboration between Martha Richards of WomenArts and Jan Lisa Huttner of Chicago’s WITASWAN (Women in the Audiences Supporting Women Artists Now). There have been almost 1,700 SWAN Day events in 36 countries in the first nine years of this new holiday. For more information about SWAN Day events happening around the world, please visit WomenArts.org.
Launched locally in 2014 in partnership with Belfast Organization for Artists to shine a light on our local Creative and Natural resources; SWAN Day Allegany County NY is being held in honor of the many creative people working hard to keep the arts accessible to all members of our rural community.
Thank You so Much for All That You Do! So many citizens are participating in the Allegany Arts Association, The Wellsville Art Association, The Belfast Organization for Artists, The Cattaraugus County Arts Council, The Wellsville Creative Arts Center, The Allegany Artisans, The Arts for Rural America, and other local creative groups and organizations. Although this special event is dedicated to Women Artists; our region is abundant with talented male artists who join them in this mission..there just isn't room to list/tag everyone here but, WE know who you are. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
